Newborn question, do you wake your baby to nurse.

Sunday, Jan. 31st 2010 10:44 AM

I will be having my son in a week or so.  My husband and I have been reading many books and took a few child classes.  Most of what I read and been told is that you need to nurse or feed your baby about every three hours.  Well okay but do you wake your baby up to feed or to you wait?  If you wait then it puts off the three hour mark.   Which is best to wait and feed your child when they wake up or to wake them up to feed?

Well the doctor will normally put a baby on a feeding time schedule. Which means sometimes waking the baby up. Gaining weight is important within the first few months. Latter on in life you may not have to be so by the schedule.

I nursed my daughter ever three hours. This was the feeding time frame I was given by the doctor. So there was times I did have to wake her but it was not so bad. She was a very easy going baby
