My son has a gap between his teeth

Tuesday, Feb. 9th 2010 4:20 PM

My two  year old son has a gap between is two front teeth.  I know they are only his baby teeth but should I be worried that his adult teeth will have the same gap?   It is all cute right now why he is still my little baby but he may not like having a gap as he gets older.

My daughter had a gap with her baby teeth too but when her adult teeth came in she did not have any gaps. Keep in mind adult teeth are bigger so just because he may have a gap now dose not mean he will have one with his adult teeth.

If you are worried about it talk to your dentist see what your dentist has to say about it.

I do not think you have too much to worry about. Just because he has a gap now does not mean he will when his adult teeth come in.

That said talk to your dentist. The dentist will be to advise you of any problems or concerns and then you can address them as they come up.

It is not uncommon to have slight gaps in baby teeth. Check with your dentist to see if any action is needed. They may say to wait until some of the adult teeth start to show on the X-rays so they can see how they are coming in.
