Should I take my child to the dentist.
My son is just a little over a year and has his first tooth in. Well coming in it is not all the way out yet. I can see were some other teeth may start cutting though. I was wondering if I need to take him to the dentist now. I have heard really mixed things about this. A few of my friends and family members did not take there children to the dentist until they were like four to five years old.
However I have read that a baby should see a dentist as soon as they start cutting their teeth. Taking him that soon seems pointless but four seems too old. What is the best age to have your child start going to the dentist.

I took my child to the dentist once she cut her first tooth. The dentist did not do much but check out the tooth. If your son has more the one tooth, the dentist will count the ones coming in and look at them. From there you set up regular dental visits.
What is important is getting your child use to going to the dentist. The sooner the better. If you wait until he is four to five years of age, he may then have untreated teeth issues that now have to be fixed. Making his first time dealing with a dentist an issue that may leave a bad feel for going to a dentist in the future.
That is just my view point on the issue.

You could wait a little if you want to. I took my son to see the dentist the first time a few months before is second birthday. Ask your dentist what age they would like to see him
