My husband and I decided not to use a pacifier with our daughter. It was just a habit that we both did not like seeing. It had nothing to do with her teeth to be honest and every thing to do with the fact that we did not want her having a pacifier at age of four.

We both know or seen kids that are in our opinion just old to be having a pacifier in their mouth. Not wanting to go though that we never gave her one.

I took my son off his pacifier use when he was only ten months and he had a few of his teeth already in. I did not want to worry that it would cause any problems prolong use or not.

I will say it was not easy and I did not just make him quite cold turkey so it took about a month to get him off it completely. That was just what we decided to do. I know people that have three years old that still have a pacifier.
There teeth seem okay so I guess it really comes down to how you feel about it.

Pacifiers can over time cause your baby to have teeth issues. It has been suggested they can cause over bite and or may make the teeth come in crooked. But in most cases it has been long extend time period where a child is thumb or pacifier sucking.

For a new born sucking their thumb or using a pacifier is natural. The choice of when they should stop is up to you. I think by the age of two, it is just a bad habit for a child to have. However that is just my opinion.

If you do not want your child to have to worry about the effects of prolong pacifier use, then sooner you ween your child off the better.
