Can a loose baby tooth cause a toothache

Wednesday, May. 5th 2010 7:00 AM

My son has a loose baby tooth in the back.  It has been loose not for about two days so it should be coming out really soon.  The problem is he is now saying that the loose tooth hurts him.  That it hurts to eat or drink.  This just started in today.  I am not sure why a loose tooth should be hurting him now.  Can a baby tooth that is about to come out cause him to have a toothache?  Should I take him to the dentist to pull it or just pull it myself?
