Teething and dental care for a baby

My son is seven month old and started teething.   I am trying to do what the doctor told me to do and clean his teeth with a damp wet cloth but my son will not have anything to do with it and he get really upset every time I try.

I am not sure if it is because I am trying to clean is teeth or just because he is teething.  Neee help please.
