How do you get dental insurance for a three year old

Monday, Aug. 23rd 2010 8:02 AM

I do not currently have dental insurance nor can I get it though my job since that is not a benefit they offer to us.   I have a three year old son that I would like to take to the dentist for his first dental visit.  How can I get dental insurance just for him since I can not afford a family dental insurance plans.

I would depend on the insurance company on whether or not they will let a minor be on their plan by them self. With some companies you may have to be on the plan with your child.

However you do not always have to buy the family plan. If it is just the two of you then if the plan offers a couple rates you would be able to sign up under the couple cost.

If cost is a factor for you try looking in the dental plans or HMO dental insurance both are low cost and for couples the cost may be more affordable for you.

I really understand putting your child first, however if you do not take care of your own oral health it will start to effect your total health.
