Dental teeth care for a four year old

Wednesday, Aug. 25th 2010 8:52 AM

My four year old has good teeth but it is a fight to get him to brush or clean his teeth.  Is this normal behavor and he will grow out of it.  Or how do I get him to like brushing his teeth?  Advise would be great.

Well yes some kids just do not like brushing when they are little at four he may still be to young to get him to brush on his own.

However try brushing your teeth with him. Kids normally like doing things that their parents are doing. Keep things as light as possible. Shown him you are having fun brushing your teeth and he may think he is missing out on the fun.

My son was the same way. So I got him a tooth brush that vibrates. He then wanted to brush his teeth all the time with it.

Now He still did not brush that well at first so I let him play around for a little while and then finished the job for him until he got better at brushing.

I have three children and only the youngest started putting up a fuss about brushing. I would just ask my other to children to brush their teeth with me..

We would be laughing and having fun while brushing then my youngest would be upset we are having fun without him. I would say we would love for him to join us with brushing our teeth. He did wanting to join in. Now we had to do this for a month or so before he just would brush on his own.
