Dentist advises dental crown on a ten year old.

Tuesday, Dec. 27th 2011 6:28 AM

My son is ten he has a large size cavity in one of his back molars that the dentist he is currently seeing is advising to have a crown put on it. I do not see the point of this since it is a baby tooth.  I asked if he could not just have a filling done since I can not afford a crown.

He stated to me that he could do a filling but since the cavity is so large, my son could crack the tooth later on.  I really only want the filling and told him I would think about it and get back to him.  I feel he trying to get a more costly dental service done and really do not believe that a filling is not good enough.  Anyone had to have a crown done on a baby tooth just because the cavity was large?
