When in between your regular dental visits, there are simple steps you can take to greatly decrease your risk of developing tooth decay and gum disease as well as other dental problems. Here are a few tips.

* Brush your teeth thoroughly twice a day and flossing daily

* Make sure to eat a balanced diet and limiting snacks between meals

* Using dental products that contain fluoride, such as toothpaste

* Making sure that your children under 12 drink fluoridated water or take a fluoride supplement if they live in a non-fluoridated area.
