Baby Dental – Adding a Dependent

Question: When is a Good Time To Add Your Baby To Your Dental Insurance Plan? My daughter is a newborn she is added to my health but not currently on my dental insurance plan. I am wondering just when should I need to add her to my dental insurance policy.

Answer: In the past it was best advise that a baby should see a dentist by their first birthday. However now it is suggest that a baby should see a dentist by the time the cut their first tooth which can be as soon as four to five months of age.  If you already have a family dental insurance plan the cost to add your newborn to the plan should not increase.  If you have a couple or signal plan adding your daughter to the policy may increase the cost of your plan. Call your dental insurance and find out how it will adjust the cost of your plan by adding her and then do what you feel will be best for you and your budget.
