Studies have been done regarding transmission of cavity-causing bacteria from parent to baby have been published for over 20 years. The main culprit is Streptococcus mutans, a bacteria that can pass from person to person through the transfer of saliva, such as sharing utensils, blowing on food, and yes, even kissing your baby.

I have a three year old that needs to see a dentist. I think she may have a cavity that needs to be addressed. However my current dental insurance plan will not cover for my daughter to see a Pediatric dentist. Where can I get dental insurance for my four year old dental care needs.

The new resource offers guidance for dental professionals who develop oral health programs as well as train caregivers. This will help to address the direct caregiver’s challenges in providing oral health care to people in long-term care facilities and other such institutions.

School nurses now have easy access to comprehensive oral health information through the National Association of School Nurses’ new website, Oral Health Connections. The American Dental Association and the NASN teamed up in January for the project supported by the DentaQuest Foundation. A dozen health organizations also provided links, content and expertise for the website

Demonstrating their commitment to the work of the ADPAC, members of the Board of the American Association of Endodontists each made financial contributions to ADPAC during the 2011 Annual Session.
The 21 leaders of the American Association of Endodontists each donated at least $200 personally to ADPAC at ADPAC’s Annual Session booth. AAE works with ADA on many advocacy initiatives, including, for instance, urging the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to include oral health as a leading health indicator.

As our economy continues on a downward turn, the affects has impacted dental practices. According to an ADA survey done 6 out of 10 dentists that responded said their net income in the third quarter was lower than in the second quarter. About three in 10 said it remained the same.

Seven volunteer ambassador-scholars sought a higher education in the Give Kids A Smile program success by watching, listening, questioning and working at the first ever GKAS University. The St Louis Give Kids A Smile program was held on October 28th and 29th.

Accidents happen, toddlers who are learning to walk may fall, young kids playing a sport may take a ball to the mouth. What is important is knowing what to do and being prepared.
If your child baby tooth gets dislodged then it can not be replaced and does not need to be put back in. However you will want to consult a dentist to see if a space maintainer is advised. Baby teeth that come out too soon may need a space maintainer to avoid other teeth from shifting.

Affording dental braces can be different in good times. Now with the economy at a low you may feel like you can not afford braces for your kids even if you have dental insurance coverage the may help toward the cost of braces.

Many kids need to have braces but the cost of having makes it so some parents just can not afford them. Even with dental insurance which help reduce the cost of braces for lower income house hold the cost of braces may still be out of reach.
