Is Nitrous Oxide safe to use on a eight year old?

Sunday, May. 30th 2010 9:46 AM

My daughter needs to have two teeth pulled.  They are baby teeth but in bad shape so we are pulling them and getting space maintainer until her adult teeth come out.  I will not have her put to sleep for dental work unless it is the only choice.  The dentist said he could either use nitrous oxide or only just numb up her mouth.

My daughter does not like shots and numbing does not always seem to work well for her since she says she can still feel pain even after they numb her up.  So I am thinking about letting the dentist use the nitrous oxide but is it really safe on a eight year old?
