Baby Dental Care, pulling five baby teeth

Tuesday, Jul. 13th 2010 9:57 AM

My dentist wants to pull five of my son baby teeth.  My son is 11 and my dentist told me that his adult teeth are there but this baby teeth are still firmly in place.   He said I should pull them to make room for then adult teeth to come out.

I am not sure about this.  Seems to me when the baby teeth are ready to come out they will.  Why pull something now just to have the dentist put in space maintainers.  Oh the dentist said he would put in the space maintainers until the adult teeth brake though.

Does this sound right to you?  Or should I get a second opinion??
