Baby Dental, How to brush my 11 month old baby’s teeth

My 11 month old baby boy does not like me cleaning his teeth.  I use a baby tooth brush and baby toothpaste (very little ) He just really hates it and fights me each time but moving his head or closing his mouth.
I hate making him get up set over this each time I clean his teeth.  However I worry that if I do slack up he will not have proper dental hygiene.   He will be a year old in just one more week am I doing this too soon?  I using the brush his dentist gave me to use.  Do you know any other tips to make brushing his teeth not so stressful for the both of us?
