Does an HMO Dental plan offer benefits for Pediatric Dentistry.

Tuesday, Mar. 11th 2014 9:17 AM

I have a three year old that should be seeing a dentist but the local general dentist will not see kids under six.  I do not have dental insurance and if my son has to see a Pediatric Dentist then I would like to get some dental insurance to help me with the cost.  HMO dental insurance plans are about what I can afford so do they offer benefits if you see a Pediatric Dentist?

Answer:  Some HMO dental insurance do provide benefits for specialist though sometimes at a reduce coverage.  You will need to read each plans terms and conditions on specialist.  Also note for most HMO dental insurance plans in order to see a specialist you need to be referred out to one by the HMO general dentist you selected to be your primary provider.
