Light smoker, Had dental X-rays, now may be pregnant

Wednesday, Apr. 28th 2010 8:08 AM

Okay so I am very worried.  I am a light smoker I go though about a pack every six weeks or so.  I just when in to see my dentist for my check up and had dental X-rays about a week ago.  My husband and I are not trying for kids otherwise I would have stop smoking.

However, I am two weeks late on my period and since it comes like clock work I took an over the counter test that says I am pregnant.   I told my husband and we are happy but I am worried sick about my prior smoking and the X-rays taken by the dentist a week before knowing all this.

My husband said it is find but I would like to hear from other people since this will be our first child I am just not sure.   I will stop smoking,  but should I be worried about the X-rays?   I making a doctor appointment for next week  to confirm if I am pregnant.

No do not worry so much, the X-ray should not have harmed your baby since they do put a lead vest on you. However just make sure when you go to the doctors if you are pregnant, tell the doctor everything.

Do not stress out over things you can not change. The fact that you will stop smoking is important because you can change that from this point forward. X-rays were done and you can not take them back. Though I really do not think you have anything to worry there either

Talk to your doctor and see what he/she will advise. I believe they will tell you to make sure you stop the smoking. Take good care of yourself form this point on and make sure you do as advise by your doctor.
