Dental teeth care, Low cost dental care for children in Texas

Nov. 6th 2010

My friend’s son needs to have two teeth removed by an oral surgeon.  The problem is they really can not afford it even though they have dental insurance.  They have reached their max limitation their plan offers and would have to wait another five months before the plan roll over.

Their son can not wait that long he really needs to have the teeth pulled immediately. Is there any thing they can do to make having the teeth pulled more affordable.

Dental teeth care, Keep smiling even though Halloween.

Oct. 31st 2010

Halloween can be a fun time for may kids.   And although the days of trick or treating is slowing dieing and many people may going to parks or local malls.  However,  candies and sweets still seem to be the number one thing given out to kids.

Just because Halloween  can be a day about getting  candy,  too much candy is never a good thing.  If your child has so much candy as that  it can last a year,  think about giving some of it away.   Make sure you check all the candy before your child has any of it.  Even if you feel you went to a safe place for your the Halloween fun, checking the candy is still a must do.

Many kids love candy so it can be tempting to eat a bunch in one day if they have access to it.  So keep that in mind to avoid them from having any sugar rushes.

You may want to make sure your child is brushing their teeth after eating these yummy sweets.  Sugar is bad for children teeth and it is important to brush after having to much so as to avoid tooth decay.

Lastly,  if you are giving out treats for Halloween and do not want to hand out candy other ideas are low cost toys you may find at places like the 99 cent stores,  Big Lots, or any dollar stores you may have near you.   My mom give out 35 cents in pennies.  The kids love that they are getting money.

Otherwise have a Save and Happy Halloween.

Dental teeth care, Baby tooth split in half

Oct. 21st 2010

One of my son baby tooth was ready to come out.  His adult tooth was coming in and so since the baby tooth was getting lose we told him to leave it alone until it falls out on it own.  Which he did. However, he was eating some popcorn I gave him when the baby tooth cracked and broke in half.

Now he only has half the baby tooth still in his mouth.  I not sure at this point should I have his father pull it out or take him to the dentist.  I never had this happen before.

Dental Teeth care, Bad baby teeth

Oct. 19th 2010

I would like to know if anyone either themselves or their child just had bad baby teeth.  My daughter who is turning four is going to have to have five teeth pulled at some point.  I am very upset and scared for her.  How will she manage without those baby teeth?  Well her adult teeth be fine?

I do not know what to think.  I been waiting for my dental insurance to kick in but I had to work a year at my job before they would give it to me.  Then my plan did not really cover much but a check up with in the first year so I was really out two years.  Now I take my daughter to see the dentist and told she should have five teeth pulled.  That they can not be saved because they are just too badly decayed.

The dentist is saying it looks like baby bottle decay but I never just let her have a baby bottle and never to sleep with.  I would brush her teeth too twice a day just like I do my own. Can someone offer some advise on what will happen if I let them pull out baby teeth?   What should I do?

Dental Teeth care, no dental insurance.

Jul. 27th 2010

My husband teeth are going bad. He is in pain off and on and really needs to see a dentist about his bad teeth.  However we do not have dental insurance and since we just had twins girls we do not have the extra money for him to have major dental work done.

Please help were can he go to fix his teeth up without costing us an arm and a leg?  I hate seeing my husband wince when he causes his teeth to hurt by eating something.  He wants to put it off saying we need the money for our daughters which I understand but him being in pain is not helpful to anyone.

Dental Teeth Care, Teeth Whitening

Jul. 15th 2010

Some families are considering alternative teeth whitening options instead of buying expensive commercial products. Some studies have suggested one can whiten their teeth buy combining 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1/2 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide in a small glass of water while brushing the teeth for 5 minutes with the mixture. Make sure you thoroughly rinse and do not do this more than two times a month.

Why are my teeth sensitive after using a teeth whitener?

You need to use extreme caution when using teeth whiteners. Over exposure to sensitive gums and teeth by the acids in the whitening agents eat into the gums and teeth. Sometimes this process may damage the teeth. The sensitivity is usually temporary, lasting only for a couple of days.

Can teeth whitening be harmful to the teeth and gums?

Teeth whitening can cause damage to the gums and teeth. Many over the counter whitening products and dentists use a hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide base solution to whiten teeth. These acidic chemicals can destroy the gums and enamel of the teeth. A tooth with a crack or cavity is more susceptible to damage and may even require a root canal.

My teeth are translucent blue in color after whitening. Why?

Over bleaching can lead to a permanent translucent blue appearance on the teeth. A cosmetic dentist can help correct this discoloration by applying veneers or a bonding agent to the teeth which can be an expensive dental procedure. Finally, the teeth can become more vulnerable to stains since the chemicals remove a protective layer on the teeth call the pellicle.

Dental teeth care, I would like to know ways of protecting my teeth during pregnancy

Jul. 3rd 2010
In the past I have notice that women that were pregnant had gotten bad teeth during pregnancy.  I was told that was do to the fact that  the baby is taking all the nutrients from your body and therefore opening your teeth to decay and leaving you open to gum disease.   Is this true?
This will be my first child and I have great teeth and gums right now but I am worried that I start to have teeth and gum issues.  Is there any way to prevent having these types of teeth and gum worries while you are pregnant?   Please advise any helpful information would be great.
