Get in the habit at really looking at your baby’s teeth.  Check for the visible signs on the tooth, such as white spots. A white spot may be a sign that the enamel on the tooth is being broken down by acids. At which point even if you do keep the area clean of plaque by using fluoride toothpaste your enamel can still continue to brake down.  As it does so, it will start to show as a dark spot on the tooth.  If left on treated can develop into a cavity.

If this dental issue is still left untreated. the cavity will deepen, until it eventually reaches the pulp and infects the health of the nerve and blood vessels.Once that happens you may start to have a toothache.

Some more signs can be visible would be pits and holes, as well as discoloration of the teeth  You can see how there are stages in which dental caries will progress. Spot it soon enough, and your baby will need minimal dental treatment. Goes with out saying the longer you wait the worse it gets, which will not only cause your baby to need more extensive dental work but can cause your child to be in a great deal of pain.
