Baby Dental, Baby Dental Caries

Question: Can my baby have caries? I have a eight month old baby boy.  I started to notice a brown spot on his tooth that I thought may have been a bit of food.   I bush it to no avail.   I have an dental appointment in three days.  I just do not understand how my baby could be getting caries when I take care to brush the teeth he has.  I do not leave him with a baby bottles.

Reply:  Since your son will be seeing a dentist in just a few days I would not overly worry about it until your dentist can advise. Yes, it could be the start of carries, when it comes down to it carries is a case of having cavities. The brown spot my be the being of a cavity forming.

If your baby has carries which you dentist will know about looking at your baby’s teeth. Ask him/her about getting sealants for the remaining teeth. Sealants will help your baby to protect her teeth from additional cavities.
