Pregnant wife and health/dental insurance

Thursday, Dec. 31st 2009 10:34 AM

My work insurance will not cover for pregnant wife.

Okay so I have been working my job for about six months and got insurance only for myself at the time.  I got married about a month ago and my wife is four months pregnant.  My heath/dental insurance said that I would have to wait until open enrollment before I can add my wife to the plans.  That is not for another six months.  By then the baby will be born. This seems a little unfair it like they do not want to pay for the cost of us having our baby.

My wife’s insurance is not the best.  Mine was better and I wanted to make the change and just have her cancel the one she is getting.  Now we are stuck.  She does not have any dental insurance.  Any one been though this and can advise me what I can do.  Can I make my job add her to my police sooner?  What can I do for her dental if I can not add her for another six months?
