Baby Dental care, Whould you take your child to a dental school for dental care.
I am at a loss as to what to do. My eight year old needs a lot of dental work. She has bad tooth enamel and get cavities very easily. The thing is I do not have dental insurance and I am a signal mom that can work only part time right now. Do to the amount of dental work my daughter really needs I have been thinking about taking her to a dental school that can do the services for way less.
Do you still get good dental care by going to a dental school? Is it save to have work done there? If it was me I would not care but it is my daughter and I still want her to have good dental care. I feel bad that I can not afford to go to a regular dentist.

Nothing wrong with taking her to a dental school. The important part is that you are doing something about getting her teeth fixed. If you have a dental school near by you that you can take her to, then why not do so.

Like Samie said there is nothing wrong with going to a dental school for dental services. However, here is another choice. I suggest looking into buying a HMO insurance plan. Then normally do not have long waiting period if any and also they normally do not have yearly dollar max limits.
HMO dental plan are not costly to have and hopefully should fit in your budget. That way if you choose not to take your daughter to a dental school, having an HMO insurance plan will let you go to a regular dentist.

No matter where you do go to get your daughter dental work done. Ask the dentist about sealants. Since you stated your daughter has bad tooth enamel, sealants will help protect your daughter teeth against additional cavities.

If all you can afford is a dental school what is the big deal? I would not get yourself so upset about whether or not you take her to a dental school are a general dentist.
Sure some can say that a school may make mistakes. However keep in mind there is not say that a general dentist will not make mistakes. They would not have student doing any dental work that they were not ready for. Also they are monitor by the teachers which are dentist with vast experience.
You need to do what you can to get your daughter teeth fixed just worry about doing that.
