Should I add my Baby to my dental insurance

Friday, Apr. 3rd 2015 6:49 AM

Question: I just had my baby in November.  I have already added her to my health insurance policy that I receive though work.  I am wondering however,  just when I need to add her to my dental insurance?  Open enrollment comes up again in June.

Should add my baby to the dental plan in June or should I add her now mid term?  If I wait she will be around eight months, and I am thinking that is when her teeth will start to come in.  Does  a baby need to see a dentist sooner?

Answer: The choice is your but my suggestion would be to wait. Many pediatrics dental offices will not take babies until they are at least 12 months old. Since your open enrollment will come before your baby is 12 months old, you may as well save the extra premium cost.
