Family Dental, Dental discount plans vs insurance plans

Thursday, May. 9th 2013 1:18 PM

Question:  Which is the better plan option.  I live in California and I notice on line there seems to be many different dental insurance plans and discount plan options. However I am not clear as to which is a better option and why.  Beside cost of plan what offers the better benefits for dental care services.    I have not been to a dentist in over two years and I want to get a dental plan dental insurance before I go back to the dentist so that it will be more affordable.

Answer: There is no simple answer to your question because it would depend on your own dental needs and what you are wanting in a dental insurance or dental plan.  Lower cost options would be the dental discount plans or dental HMO insurance plans these plans will normally not have waiting periods, max dollar limitations or deductibles.   However under both these plan types you need to stay in or choose from a dentist that in the plan network of providers.

Where as PPO  or Indemnity insurance plans will give you more a free range of dental providers and who you go to for your dental care.   These types of insurance plans are normally more costly and come with limitations.  So make sure you read though each plan carefully to fully understand which would be best for you and y our family needs.   I suggest going though the plans we offer on this website since we provide over 60 different dental insurance plan options in California.  Also remember we would be more then happy to address your dental needs over the phone if you have any further questions.   Please call us M-F 8-5 310-534-3444
