Baby Dental – Gingivitis vs. Periodontitis.

Saturday, Dec. 2nd 2023 2:04 PM

Gingivitis occurs before periodontitis. Gingivitis usually refers to gum inflammation. Initially, with Gingivitis, bacterial plaque accumulates on the tooth’s surface. When that happens, the gums get red and inflamed; teeth may bleed when brushing them. Even though the gums are irritated and bothersome, the teeth are not loose, and there is no irreversible bone or surrounding tissue damage.

Periodontitis is what happens next when Gingivitis goes untreated. With periodontitis, the gum and bone pull away from the teeth, forming large pockets. Debris collects in the spaces between the gums and teeth and infects the area. The immune system will start to attack the bacteria as the plaque spreads below the gum line. Bone and connective tissue that hold the tooth begin to break down, and teeth, over time, become loose and can fall out.

Wednesday, Nov. 29th 2023 1:41 PM

What is Periodontitis, and how do you get it? Periodontitis is a severe gum infection that damages the soft tissue and bone that supports the tooth. The alveolar bone around the teeth is slowly and progressively lost with Periodontitis. Untreated Periodontitis will eventually result in tooth loss and may increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other health problems. How do you get Periodontitis: Bacterial plaque, a sticky, colorless membrane which can develop over the surface of teeth, is the most common cause of periodontal disease. In most cases, Periodontitis is preventable. It is usually caused by poor dental hygiene

According to the Renfrew Center Foundation, up to 24 million people in the United States experience an eating disorder. This dark figure can be even high because many people keep their eating disorders a secret.

A study by the University of Bergen in Norway showed that patients who suffer from eating disorders, such as Anorexia and Bulimia, experienced substantially more dental health problems—for example, sensitive teeth, severe dental erosion, and facial pain compared to those without.

Baby Dental – Teeth Whitening Products

Are At-Home Teeth Whitening Products Safe?

Even though considerable concerns have been raised about at-home whitening products being safe for your teeth, numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that using a home system to whiten your teeth is safe and effective when used as instructed. The effectiveness of many home teeth whitening products is so good that numerous dentists complain that they are losing money and patients.

In many cases, that is not correct. At-home whitening products cause their patients to visit their dentist more, and they take more pride in their dental health because they have raised a certain level of awareness. It is advised to consult with your dentist before making a decision about or selecting a teeth whitening product that is recommended by most all of the advertisements for legitimate teeth whitening products.

Baby Dental – Tooth Decay in Children.

Thursday, Nov. 23rd 2023 1:08 PM

Tooth decay in children is an occurring health condition. Due to dental issues, children miss 52 million school hours every year. If dental problems are left untreated, children will develop further health problems. 30% to 50% of children between 4 and 5 years old already struggle with tooth decay.

There are many reasons for this problem, but a few are that dental benefits are not provided through the parent’s employer.  Some parents fail to acknowledge the importance of early dental care for kids. Children of low-income families are more predisposed to developing tooth decay, and Dental care cost is too expensive for children.

Are you using your dental benefits?

As we draw closer to the end of the year, this is a reminder to use your dental benefits. Many people receive dental benefits through their employment but still need to visit the dentist and use the benefits they receive. Also, companies will review the employee benefits offer and usually make changes at the beginning of the year. Therefore, taking care of all your dental needs before any changes occur is best.

Baby Dental – Your child’s first dental visit.

Sunday, Nov. 19th 2023 10:33 AM

Proper dental care from the start will make for healthy teeth that will last your child a lifetime. The AAPD (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry) recommends that a child be seen by a dentist when their first tooth appears.   An excellent Pediatric dental office loves to see children in the office and will often provide a friendly visit for first-time patients. Often children are shown around the office, and they are shown dental instruments, have a ride in the dental chair, and, if ready, a cleaning and check-up. Visiting the dentist is an enjoyable one.

Baby Dental – Fruit Juice

Friday, Nov. 17th 2023 10:11 AM

Fruit Juice May be Bad for Your Children’s Teeth as Soft Drink.

There are good benefits to fruit juice. However, just like soda, they can still harm your child’s teeth. According to the head of a leading Dentistry University in Australia, juices contain citric acid, which can dissolve the hard structures of your teeth, especially the exposed roots and the enamel, which leaves the inner parts of teeth exposed. In turn, this leads to tooth sensitivity. Water is the healthiest drink you can give your child, but you do not have to stop all other beverages. Give limited amounts of fruit juice and soda and have your child drink out of a straw to limit contact on their teeth.
