Loose baby tooth ready to come out

One of my son’s baby tooth is ready to come out it is really loose but still in his mouth.  He has been playing with it all day.  Is it okay just to pull it out?  I really do not want to pay the dentist to pull a tooth that should just come out on it own.  So should I just pull it for him or let it be for a few more days to see if it comes out on it own?
