Day care vs Babysitter

Sunday, Jan. 3rd 2010 6:18 PM

What do you think is the better for a baby

My son is almost one year old.  I will be going back to work part time during the day once he turns one.  I would like to have some feed back on what people think would be better.  I do not care about cost of going to a day care vs having a baby sitter.  I would like to know what you think is just better for the baby to have.I am torn since you hear bad things about both.

Do day cares really take good care of your baby since they have other babies they have to take care of too.  If you use a day care do you feel your child is getting enough time given to him/her?  What do you feel are the good points about day care? What are the bad?  How did you pick your day care?
Okay about baby sitter I could go the baby sitter way too.  I feel with a baby sister my son would have 100% time given to him since he would be the only child to take care of.  I worry about how to find a good babysitter and having someone in my home alone while my husband and I are at work worries me too.  I hear really bad things about baby sisters too.  So people with baby sisters the same questions.  Give me the good and bad about having a babysitter in your home.  How did you find your sitter?

In my opinion a day care is much better. A day care lets your child interact with other children is own age. This helps your son be more socialized. It will teach him things like sharing and getting along with others.

Some day care also have learning time. They teach the children their number and letters and other stuff that they may not get from a baby sitter. I also found that a day care was less expensive as well.

Well for me it was a baby sitter. I was luck enough to only have to work part time and only needed a baby sitter twice a week.

Even then when we made the choice to get a baby sitter we were lucky that my mom was our sitter for those two days. It would be hard to find some we did not know and to trust their care.

My wife and I hired a baby sitter. We had two young boys and I worked full time my wife part time from home. Having the two boys and all the work was just too much. Since I did not like the idea of day care we decided to get a baby sitter.

My wife is home with the sitter anyway. So the sitter is just there to help my wife with the boys so she can have time to get the work she wants done and to have some time to rest.

We did do a back round check on the sitter. Doing a back round check is so easy now with the computer, there is no reason not to. A back round check should be done on anyone that is going to be with your family.

Day Care all the way if you have to have one or the other. Day care will help prepare you child into going to school. Find a daycare that teaches as well and not one that just baby sits at there home.

Also find one that has live on line access so that you can see what is going on whenever you want. I found one for my son and when I am at work I log in whenever I have a brake to check in on my son and see that he is doing okay. They have all the rooms but the rest rooms on live feed.

I also did my home work before taking him to daycare. I check their records and talked to other people that were taking their kids there before making a choice.

It would really depend on your needs as to which would suite you better. Since you will be working only part time you may feel a baby sitter is better. A person you know would be best for a baby sister like a family member or a friend.

If your part time work is still every day M-F then a day care may work a best for you. There are very good day cares that you can look into.
