When should my six month old stop using a pacifier?
At what age should I stop letting my son use a pacifier.
My son Jack love his pacifier, and to be honest so do I. He is really happy with the pacifier and it keeps him from crying. My friend told me that it is okay now but that I should think about weening him off the pacifier because they can start to cause teeth problems. She also said that it may be hard to take away from him as he get older. Is that true? I see kids that are two with a pacifier and their teeth look okay to me. As long as he is happy and it is not hurting should I really need to take it way from him?

Pacifiers have there good and bad points. They are great at times to help comfort a crying baby. However your friend does make a valid point. Prolong use of a pacifier may effect your baby’s teeth. Causing them to come in crooked or even making your babies bite wrong.
At six months I think it is still okay to use but as soon as you see your son teeth really starting to come in try to ween him off. Beside although I too see children up to two and three sometimes even older with a pacifier in their mouth is that really want you would what for your son?

Well babies love to suck that is what they do even before being born. Sucking is important for them to do in the early stages of their life.
It is very normal for a baby to enjoy sucking their thumbs and or pacifiers. And yes is is very self soothing to many babies.
Can thumb or pacifiers sucking cause issues with your child teeth and or bite. Yes but normally that is prolong sucking. Children of two, three, four and more of age.
That being the case some parents like to ween their child off of thumb and pacifier sucking before it becomes a problem. There are even some child that will just ween themselves. Do what you feel is best for your family. Six months is still young. If you feel is best to have him stop when he is one or one in a half, the slowly ween him off a few months before that time.
