How long should your baby take a nap for

five month old and naps

How long should I let my five month old nap for?  I know you should let your child take naps but my son sleep a long time.  Then trying to get him to sleep at night it becomes an issue.  He not tired and although he is good in is crib and does not cry he does not sleep either.   What time should I let my son nap at and for about how long?
