Baby Dental – Baking Soda

Monday, Nov. 16th 2020 6:17 AM

Can you brush your two year old teeth with baking soda? My two year old is always trying to eat the toothpaste when I have him brush his teeth. I would like to know if I can have him use just baking soda until he is older? That way I do not have to worry about him eating toothpaste.

Reply: Just put a pea size amount of toothpaste on his brush and put the toothpaste back where he can not reach it. He should be okay with making sure you are using very little paste.

However if you want to use baking soda: Make a paste of baking soda and water (just a pinch and a few drops respectively) and brush the teeth using a toddler toothbrush.
