Dental Cavities in Kids – Baby Dental
Nearly One in Five Kids Have Untreated Dental Cavities
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 20% of today’s kids between the ages of five and 11 have an untreated decayed tooth, and 13% of 12-19-year-olds have untreated dental cavities. Dental cavities, when left untreated, can lead to tooth infections, known as abscesses, which can destroy the pulp inside the tooth. Over time, these deep infections can cause a child to lose a tooth. Cost is sometimes a factor in why kids go without dental treatment. Dental insurance is one way to help control the cost of dental care.
